Administrative Region
During the early period of Japanese rule, this station was under the Changhua Irrigation Association, specifically the Hemei Monitoring Office. In 1940, it was separated from the Hemei Monitoring Office and officially established as the Xigang Monitoring Office. After Taiwan's retrocession, the station was renamed the Shengang Workstation in 1965. In 1975, following jurisdictional adjustments, it was renamed the Liugu Workstation. Initially, there were 22 irrigation teams under its jurisdiction, which were reduced to 20 after a regional adjustment in 1994. To align with the nomenclature of the workstation’s location, it was renamed the Shengang Workstation on July 1, 1996. In 2002, due to the policy of merging irrigation teams with less than 50 hectares, the number of teams was further reduced to 16.
Irrigation Water Source
The station’s jurisdiction covers the northwest corner of the county, with agricultural irrigation water sourced from the Liugu Main Line within the Fuma Canal system of the Wu River.
Irrigation Region
The jurisdiction is located within Shengang Township and Hemei Township in the northwest part of Changhua County. It borders the Taiwan Strait to the west and faces Longjing Township in Taichung County across the Quanxing Industrial Park and Dadu River. To the east, it adjoins Zhuyuan Village in Hemei Township, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Hemei Workstation. The southern boundary is marked by the Tianwei Drainage, Beichen Road, and Jiabao Drainage, which separate it from Eliao Village in Shengang Township and Yuehmei Village in Hemei Township, both within the Hemei Workstation’s jurisdiction. As of 2020, the station irrigated approximately 1,126 hectares of farmland.
Agricultural Production
The soil in the area is sandy loam, with rice as the primary crop, typically grown in two cropping seasons. Dryland farming is dominated by vegetables, with onions, garlic, and peanuts being the most distinctive agricultural products.
