The Dongxi Third Canal section (alongside Hebin Road) underwent improvements in 2020. While ensuring a stable water supply and flood protection, the project reduced the width of the main channel using a compound cross-section design. This initiative was integrated with Changhua County's Wu River embankment waterfront recreation corridor project. The redesign enhances the aesthetic appeal of water conservation facilities, providing visitors with a vantage point to appreciate the intertwining beauty of farmlands and Taiwan High Speed Rail. It also showcases the modest and hardworking culture of rice cultivation in the fields.
