Our Office recently conducted the annual Cybersecurity Disaster Recovery Exercise, and all procedures were completed smoothly and in accordance with established protocols. At the outset of the exercise, the relevant personnel explained the drill procedures and key points to ensure that participating staff members fully understood the responsibilities and tasks to be carried out at each stage, after which the simulated scenarios commenced.
During the exercise, simulated system and database failure scenarios were triggered by incident reports from the operational departments, enabling each department to familiarize itself with the reporting procedures and response measures required in the event of an incident. From the system administrator’s incident reporting and the server room’s isolation of the host network to the operational departments’ assistance in notifying relevant personnel, all stages were closely coordinated and carried out smoothly.
Throughout the subsequent incident response phase, IT personnel followed the exercise script to verify backup status and carry out system restoration procedures, successfully restoring the system to normal operation. Antivirus scanning and network restoration procedures were also performed to ensure the continued stability and availability of system services following recovery. The recovery process was undertaken in a clear and orderly manner overall, enabling participating personnel to develop a more concrete understanding of the response procedures required following a disaster.
Upon conclusion of the exercise, a review meeting was convened to consolidate identified strengths and to assess areas requiring further improvement. The exercise confirmed the feasibility of the existing reporting and recovery mechanisms and afforded relevant personnel practical experience through simulated scenarios. It further reinforced their understanding of respective duties and responsibilities and enhanced coordination and cooperation among relevant departments. The findings are expected to contribute to the continued strengthening of the organization’s incident response capabilities.
