The Wushantou Reservoir Scenic Area in Tainan is embracing the Year of the Snake with festive cheer. From January 25 to February 2, 2025, the Chianan Management Office of the Irrigation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, will host a special Lunar New Year celebration. The scenic area will remain open throughout the nine-day holiday, welcoming visitors from all over Taiwan to explore the historic Wushantou Reservoir.

According to the Irrigation Agency, recent water conditions in southern Taiwan have been favorable. The reservoir is nearing full capacity, and the bald cypress trees on its islets have turned a vibrant, festive red. Their reflections shimmer across the clear lake, creating a picture-perfect landscape. Both the park and its surrounding routes feature thoughtfully designed scenic elements, including a large inflatable fortune deity installation that adds to the holiday atmosphere. The area has become a favorite destination for spring outings and celebratory photo opportunities for families.

A highlight for visitors is the solar-powered sightseeing boat, offering a relaxing way to discover the hidden beauty of the Coral Pool and take in the lake and mountain views from a new perspective. During the holiday period, the Wushantou Reservoir Scenic Area will also feature special promotional events. The resort hotel’s chefs have prepared a selection of local specialty dishes to delight visitors’ palates.

The Irrigation Agency also noted that in May 2024, Wushantou Reservoir was officially certified as an environmental education site by the Ministry of Environment. During this Lunar New Year, the site will showcase its environmental education efforts and accomplishments from the past six months. Visitors are invited to stroll through the education zone, enjoy a peaceful walk along the lakeside, and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area — a refreshing and meaningful way to begin the new year
